The Barkmont
Done Right
Our expert trainers get to the root of the issue, setting you and your pup up for
lasting success.

Our trainers go above and beyond to support both the dogs and their humans in achieving
their goals, no matter what program they are pursuing. Our approach focuses on two
key areas: first, preventing your dog from repeating unwanted habits by managing their
environment. Second, we reinforce new, desirable behaviors through positive behavior
techniques.
The dog training industry is constantly growing and evolving, embracing new methods
and practices all the time. We foster a culture of lifelong learning and are committed
to staying up-to-date with the latest research and methods, allowing us to create a
training plan tailored specifically to your dog.
The Barkmont Trainers are true experts when it comes to their profession. Our founders not only hold Certified Professional Animal Care Provider (CPACP, Professional Animal Care Certification Council) and Certified Training and Behavior Consultant (CTBC, Dog Training Internship Academy) certifications, they’ve also graduated from various industry programs and workshops and attended numerous seminars covering a range of topics, including dog aggression, behavior and general care.
We have worked with dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. Training benefits not only dogs but their owners, too. It goes beyond simply learning commands; it’s about fostering mutual understanding and building a happier, healthier relationship. Our goal is to bring out the very best in each one of the dogs we work with.
Meaning we don’t use painful or forceful methods such as:
to fix broken glass. In many cases, they can lead to even more problematic behavior.
Studies show that dogs learn best when given clear guidance and motivation for positive behavior.
We help your dog make good choices with lots of rewards and praise, leading to lasting results
and happy, confident, well-behaved pups.
Whether it’s basic obedience, puppy classes, or working on good manners out-on-the-town,
The Barkmont offers a variety of training options in both group and private sessions.
Our trainers are happy to discuss what program would be best suited for your dog.
Training Program
Our introductory program sets the groundwork for your dog’s success with basic obedience skills such as sit, down, come, stay, wait, leave it, drop it, place and loose leash walking.
In this program, your dog will come to The Barkmont twice a week (example: Tuesday and Thursday) for six consecutive weeks. It includes an initial evaluation, at least three one-on-one training sessions each day, involvement in daycare activities, and regular updates through report cards with notes and videos.
The program concludes with a transfer lesson in your home, and an additional follow-up lesson ensuring you feel confident reinforcing your dog’s new skills in their familiar environment.
(Exclusively for graduates of a Barkmont training program)
Keep your dog’s skills sharp and build on success with our refresher course. Reserved for pups who have completed any other Barkmont program. The Barkmont trainers will continue to work with your dog to reinforce their existing manners and introduce new behaviors aligned with your goals.
Pre-registered dogs are scheduled for sessions twice a week, on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Your dog will enjoy two personalized training sessions each day, engage in daycare activities, and receive updates through report cards with notes and videos. This program is the perfect way to maintain and advance your dog’s skills!
The Barkmont training around town!
The program includes eight training days featuring field trips to local dog-friendly locations and daycare activities. Your pup will be able to practice and advance existing cues and apply their manners in real-world, dog-friendly locations. Our trainers will focus on polite interactions with strangers, obedience around distractions, advanced recall, and tailor the training to your specific goals. This program includes daily updates, a weekly report card, and a transfer lesson at a local dog-friendly location.
